I fired up xawtv, and noticed my machine was very sluggish, and the
sound didn't work (like it did in pre7-ac4). I ran ps to see what the
deal was, and surprisingly enough:
root 785 67.0 0.0 0 0 p0 SW 01:25 1:03 msp3400
^^^^ 67% CPU!!! ^^^^^
not often I see a kernel module in the process table.

So the kernel thinks the modules has finished initializing itself.
I killed xawtv, and then did:
andersen:/home/andersen % sudo modprobe -r bttv
[1]+ Done xawtv
andersen:/home/andersen % lsmod

slhc 4136 1 (autoclean) [ppp]
msdos 7704 3 (autoclean)

which sucessfuly removed it. I stuck debug=1 into the msp3400 options
in /etc/conf.modules, and tried again. msp3400 seems to be in an infinite
loop printing stuff like:
msp3400: setmode: 3
msp3400: setvolume: 65535:65535 0x73 0x00
msp3400: mono sound carrier: 4.501 MHz
msp3400: setvolume: 0:0 0x00 0x00
msp3400: setmode: 0
msp3400: carrier1 val: 9434 / 4.5 NTSC
msp3400: carrier1 val: 3059 / 5.5 PAL B/G
msp3400: carrier1 val: 535 / 6.0 PAL I
msp3400: carrier1 val: 145 / 6.5 PAL D/K + SAT + SECAM
My /etc/conf.modules has this in it:
# TV card stuff
alias char-major-81 bttv
pre-install bttv modprobe -k msp3400; modprobe -k tuner
options bttv radio=1 vidmem=0xe00 card=2
#options msp3400 debug=1
options tuner type=2
post-remove bttv exec `modprobe -r tuner; modprobe -r msp3400; modprobe -r *`
Any ideas? (Please cc me on replies, as I am not subscribed right now to
linux-kernel).
