Sorry... I feel awfully stupid. The errors are while talking to
nearby Linux 2.0.34 with pppd 2.2.0f...

ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
inet addr:192.168.12.150 P-t-P:192.168.12.40 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:130 errors:453 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:453
TX packets:791 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:10

On the other end of the point-to-point there're 668 packets received,
5 errors and 5 dropped... And 707 packets sent (zero errors).

All connections to that machine just freeze.

PS: Sorry for previous message. I really feel stupid... :(
