The GNOME folks have a rather peculiar notion of "code freeze", I've
noticed. :-/

Heh. There've been more than a few cases when service packs broke drivers.
Then again, Microsoft's idea about compatibility is that it serves no purpose
but to make others think they can compete, and therefore isn't important.
