Just as another datapoint, xosview-1.6.2.a hangs on 2.2.1-ac7 uniprocessor
kernels. It seems to read trash from /proc/stat and that seems to be what
is causing the problem. Interestingly, doing a cat /proc/stat or less
/proc/stat seems to work fine.
