i'm also doing a little work on this. i've started to re-implement
Solaris' /usr/proc/bin tools on Linux, and have created a patch (recently
posted to linux-kernel) to add appropriate event counters to the buffer
cache, as a start, to generate data for an eventual implementation of
"sar".
