2.2.3 fails to boot on AP450GX

Something has gone wrong with IOAPIC/IRQ setup or something
at about that level in 2.2.3.
On my Intel AP450GX 4xPPRO box it dies at end of initial boot
sequence with unable to find filesystem. 2.2.2 runs fine.
