Up to gcc-2.7.2.2 it has the problem, 2.7.2.3 just does the
-fno-strength-reduce on its own. egcs should be rid of that bug. In fact,
I've been compiling my kernels with -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -march=pentium
for ages. But YMMV.
