Same compiler here, 1990224 snapshot, same problem.
Kernel 2.2.1

Explains some other strange stuff too I think, I haven't been
able to talk reliably to a certain BSD box for a while.

I have a hunch that the problem is on the recieve end, but
I will do some tracking (tomorrow) if it hasn't been found by then.
