2.3.1 hangup

Mxaudio causes AccelX (4.1.1 MX) hangup, networking stuff stops
responding, no disk activity, looks like whole 2.3.1 halts.
Machine is ASUS P2B-DS, of course SMP. Details/test available
on request.
2.3.0 runs OK, same .config used.
