problems with 2.2.x kernels

I have a TI 5200 laptop, 16megs ram, 1.2meg hd, that I have been running Redhat
5.0, then 5.2 without any problems (after tweaking the pcmcia address access). I
have loaded 6.0 with the new 2.2 kernel and, on boot, it does aa pci probe and
detects what I think is the docking station port.
It detects from 01 to ff and it takes about 35 minutes to get through.
The message on the screen is:

PCI: Discovered primary peer bus 01
... till it reaches
PCI: Discovered primary peer bus ff

then it finishes booting
Is there anything I can do to rebuild the kenel or put as an option at the lilo prompt
to speed this up, I don't use a dock, but I do use this laptop when at work (an isp)
to diagnose customers phone lines and for my general computer at home and work.
thirty minute boots are not good or fun :)

This is the only computer I have seen this problem on, it even has our sysadmin
stumped.

Any suggestions?
