This is because the kernel 2.2.9 is somewhere on a cylinder less then the
1,024 cylinder limit. Any kernel that is somewhere on disk higher than
the 1024 cylnder may not properly boot due to BIOS restrictions. What I
do to alleviate this problem is to create a 10 megabyte /boot partition
that is under the 1024 cylnder limit, then put the kernels there.
