Ooops: 2.2.10-ac8 + ncr53c8xx driver

Just now i received the very first kernel oops ever since i started using
Linux about 3 years ago. Don't ask about W****** ;-)

Background :

I'm using Debian 2.1, kernel 2.2.10-ac8 with 1 IDE and 1 SCSI HDD (+ scsi
cdrom, zip drive and scanner). Not hard to guess it's related to the
ncr53c8xx scsi driver which i enabled just half an hour ago.
Until then i have been using the ncr53c(7,8)xx driver. I switched over
to the new one mainly out of curiosity.

My SCSI controller is an ASUS SC-200 Fast-SCSI 2 PCI card with symbios logic
controller. It's about 3,5 years old.

the ver_linux script gives :

-- Versions installed: (if some fields are empty or looks
-- unusual then possibly you have very old versions)
Linux asterix 2.2.10-ac8 #2 Tue Jul 6 20:17:41 CEST 1999 i586 unknown

The output of dmesg :
