sorry to bother everyone with what i guess is probably just stupidity
on my part but i dont know where else to try.
i've recently been given an old copy of a program in a.out format.
the 'file' command gives the following description:
Linux/i386 demand-paged executable (ZMAGIC)
i have tried this on several machines using 2.0.x kernels and it works
fine, but with 2.2.x kernels i get the error:
Exec format error. Binary file not executable.
i get the correspondign errors in my log files:
Aug 20 19:38:07 appc-keith kernel: N_TXTOFF < BLOCK_SIZE. Please convert binary.
Aug 20 19:38:07 appc-keith modprobe: can't locate module binfmt-0064
i tried compiling a.out support into the kernel but that makes no difference.
so how do i get the kernel to run these programs?
thanks.
keith.
