I am trying to consolidate several 486 file servers into one new unit:

Dual PII-233
256mb RAM
1 ide
2 10g SCSI Drives
1 294x Adaptec Controller

The machine is running Linux 2.2.6 and samba to serve files to Winblows =
machines. The system seems to boot fine and runs fine with one =
exception. When I attempt to copy allot of files, (1,000+) from one =
drive to the other the machines locks with a kernel panic. The only =
thing that I have noticed is that samba says it is attempting to open =
10,000 file handles and only 1014 are available.=20

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rich
