*Still* getting X server hangs under 2.2.x

Alan & other Linux friends...

I wrote for help a while back about some X server hang problems I'm
experiencing under 2.2.x (latest under 2.2.13pre15+ikd). I've tried
some more things, but am *still* having the same problem... Here's the
update:

I'm pretty sure that I've solved the memory subsystem problems... Turns
out that one of the SIMMs must have been seated improperly. I can now
build kernels for 24 hours straight without a hicup. I've done this
several times. No FS corruption problems, etc. Thanks again for all
who helped diagnose this problem. :-)

When I last reported this X problem, I was running XFree86 3.3.5 on a
4M S3 Virge. I've tried it on a 2M S3 card, same results. Ok -- maybe
a bug in the X server. So, I went out and bought Accelerated-X. I have
to say -- it *is* faster, easier to set up, etc. But, it *still* hangs
the system. With the ikd patch installed, I get oops's (which I'll
include)... I'll also include my kernel's .config in case somebody
can tell me that I have somehow built the kernel incorrectly, although
the stock SuSE 6.1 kernel (2.2.5) dies in the same way. In particular,
the 'kernel hacking' things I have enabled are:

> # Kernel hacking
> #
> CONFIG_MAGIC_SYSRQ=y
> CONFIG_KERNEL_DEBUGGING=y
> # CONFIG_SEMAPHORE_DEADLOCK is not set
> # CONFIG_DEBUG_KSTACK is not set
> # CONFIG_KSTACK_METER is not set
> CONFIG_DEBUG_SOFTLOCKUP=y
> CONFIG_SOFTLOCKUP_THRESHOLD=100000000
> # CONFIG_PROFILE_GCC is not set
> # CONFIG_TRACE is not set
> CONFIG_DEBUG_MCOUNT=y
> # CONFIG_PRINT_EIP is not set
> # CONFIG_MEMLEAK is not set
> # CONFIG_KDB is not set

People have told me *not* to include the SOFTLOCKUP option, but if I
don't the entire system hangs *completely*. The SOFTLOCKUP option at
least generates an oops which I can then look at and report. The last
oops's have been almost indentical, BTW.

Here they are, followed by diffs of them, followed by my '.config'.
If anybody has further suggestions, please let me know. Thank you *very*
much.

-Nick
