You did patch it with both the ext3-0.0.2a and 2b patches, didn't you?

Otherwise, I've had absolutely no reports of such behaviour from
anybody else, and I can't reproduce it here --- if you could supply a
bit more information, it would help me to work out what is happening.

In all cases I've seen so far, they are.
