I thought developers should care to make software stable for the late
2.3.x series so when 2.4.0 will be out it will work just fine.

You can't do it this way.
With my patch I only wanted to suggest what I thought to be a good idea.
Of course I am fine also with the new/right behaviour. Apologies if I
caused some waste of time.
