2.3.29 main.c memory_start not declared

Hi List,
I only can compile kernel-2.3.29 if CONFIG_BLK_DEV_INITRD
is not defined.So I can not use initrd.
Because in function start_kernel, in main.c
memory_start = not declared.How must I declare and initialize
this variable memory_start.
