*1 Buildkernel is an intelligent shell script that automates the task
of building a Linux kernel. For beginning users, it handles the process
from beginning to end, prompting the user when they have to do something.
Advanced users can use it to build multiple kernels with little effort.
Buildkernel will download kernel and pcmcia source, remove unnecessary
code, create symlinks, automatically patch the kernel, build the kernel,
modules, and pcmcia modules (nicely), and install them to hard disk or
floppy, running LILO as necessary.
The program is released under the GPL.

"The idea that Bill Gates has appeared like a knight in shining
armour to lead all customers out of a mire of technological chaos neatly
ignores the fact that it was he who, by peddling second-rate technology,
led them into it in the first place."
- Douglas Adams, on Windows '95.
