question regarding r8169 and r8168

i got a new asus p7p55d board with a realtec nic which is named
"RTL8112L".
However the card is recognized as r8169, the driver is loading and
i got a working connection.
Under heavy network load my box is freezing completely, randomly.
As i figured out why my box is locking up (i'm suffering some other
issues like freezing box with speedstepping/turboboost) i got another
driver from the realtek website, which is r8168-8.015.00.
So far, this driver seems much more stable for that card, i have no more
lockups.

I just wanted to know if this r8168 driver is supposed to make it to new kernel
releases. Are these kernel drivers directly maintained by Realtek?
