the PATH should be set in /etc/bashrc for system wide definition and in
~/.bashrc for single user definition.
edit one of these files and verify if PATH is already modified in it. If
so, make your changes here.
if not, add this:
PATH=$PATH:/my/new/directory/for/binary/stuff
export PATH
