No 10/100 card is NE2000 compatible.
The NE2000 design is badly designed and slow by today's standards.

Note: this is a modified version, not the real v0.89H

This bug was not in the original v0.89H.

Get the updated driver
ftp://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/linux/drivers/test/tulip.c
and follow the directions in
http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/tulip.html

If you are running 2.3.* you will want the even newer driver version from
http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/kern-2.3/index.html
