Hi,

can anybody help me in setting up NIS in a special way ?
BTW i worked through NIS-howto and nsswitch.conf, but it seams rather
complicated.

My current config 1st:
- SuSE Linux 6.2 with kernel 2.2.13 and glibc
- PAM support
- shadow passwords

I need to set up NIS with following constraints:
- The Linux box works as a NIS client against a Compaq Tru64
UNIX Server
- All accounts found in the local authorization files
(passwd, group shadow etc.) should be taken from there.
- All the rest should be obtained via NIS

The background for this kind of setup is to provide a low level access
(especially for 'root') to the system even if the network is down.
In full function mode, the NIS system should gibve access to the
ordinary multi-user community.

Any tips appreciated

Andreas
