While this patch looks 100% OK, except it does not apply on current
kernels.

I think it got unnoticed because the "right" people were not in Cc. Perhaps
adding DRM bridge maintainers and GPIO maintainers will help, being the
affected drivers belonging to those subsystems, and also Andrew Morton
<akpm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> who is the most active committer to the
MAINTAINERS file. You may do so in v3.
