Thinkpad X220 - tiny dropouts in audio in recent kernels

Hi!
In in 6.19 or so, I could play video using mpv and having 100% CPU
load on all cores. As long as system was not overloaded, it would be
okay.
In 7.0+ or so, when I play video using mpv, I'll start hearing tiny
dropouts once CPU is loaded, and webpages such as lichess are enough
to do that.
Did something change in scheduling? Is the audio buffer now smaller?
How to debug this besides bisect?
Anyone else seeing this?
Best regards,
Pavel
