If you did this, I'm not sure I saw it?

now find myself with both 'longmode' (current vCPU mode, should be
called is_64bit), and 'long_mode' (latched VM-wide mode) in the *same*
function.

I cannot live with that; I'm going to do the longmode→is_64bit change
locally.
