This seems to be the real difference with respect to the
xpcs_mmio_read_reg_direct()/xpcs_mmio_write_reg_direct(), right?
Maybe a different approach (simpler but probably less flexible is to make
xpcs_mmio_addr_format() SoC dependent. What do you think?
