The erratum documentation [*] appears to have been updated since last 
week. GNR98 now describes correctly:

  ... Due to this erratum, an Early OS Microcode Update from a microcode
  version earlier than 0x1000405 to a release _after_ 0x1000405 may
  result in a Machine Check Error (MCE).
