I've got the same problem, but it worked fine in 2.3.36 for me. I'm
going to try to back track to 2.3.37 and see if it still happens.
I'm unable to insert the isapnp.o modules because modprobe segfaults and I
can't modprobe quirks either.
[root@bd misc]# /sbin/insmod quirks.o
quirks.o: couldn't find the kernel version the module was compiled for
