I've seen this, and it has been discussed at least on the German
hardware newsgroup. Please try setting your BIOS to PIO mode 0,0
(_not_ AUTO) for the LS-120. That should work.
Maybe it's a buglet in the IDE driver, maybe in the LS 120.
