Looks like you can not use partition used as swap-partition as "normal"
partition afterwards:

[root@localhost /root]# cat /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part6 > /dev/null
[root@localhost /root]# dd if=/etc/part6 of=/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part6

33545+0 records in
33544+0 records out
[root@localhost /root]#

Why someone in sane mind will do this ? Ok, I share swap partition between
Windows98 and Linux. On Linux bootup I mkswap partition, on linux shutdown
I mkdosfs the same partition and Windows98 is happy. Now (with 2.3.36+devfs)
is does not work :-(( Mkdosfs compains

mkdosfs 0.3b (Yggdrasil), 5th May 1995 for MS-DOS FS
mkdosfs: failed whilst writing FAT

and even simple dd will fail. If I do not mkswap and swapon that partition
all works well: I can do mkdosfs and use dd.
P.S. It can be devfs fault but it does not look so...
