btw., if it still happens for anyone, i'd rather prefer temporarily
looping in there with interrupt disabled, thus the NMI-watchdog will find
the lockup in a natural way. (it shouldnt matter as the typical cross-CPU
latency is around 5 microseconds, and it's a debugging check anyway.)
