There is a similar problem for notebooks if you want to drive the
ttyS0 with the serial driver and the IrDA stuff (which also shows up
as ttyS1) with the IrDA driver and still want serial console support
which means that you must compile the serial driver into the
kernel. You can't tell the serial driver not to occupy the ttyS1 which
is the "slow" IrDA emulation to be able to use the special driver for
Fast IrDA.
I'm looking into splitting the serial console out of the serial driver
to be able to load the serial driver as module and still keep the
serial console in the kernel. Any chance to get such a patch into post-15?
