Yeah, it's not that elegant, faking user-space access from the kernel.

Because a filesystem is the natural way to present data. One
shouldn't have to use a special programme to access audio data.
Whether it's done as a bona-fide audiofs, or a user-space programme
talking to codafs is a separate issue. I'd just like to see something
made available. I keep hearing whispers, but haven't seen anything
concrete yet.
