Compiling it on an i386 (CONFIG_686) gives a couple of assembler
warnings that I haven't seen before, at the very end of compilation:
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/home/src/linux-2.2/include -traditional -c head.S
/tmp/ccBTSkdf.s: Assembler messages:
/tmp/ccBTSkdf.s:109: Warning: using `%eax' instead of `%ax' due to `l' suffix
/tmp/ccBTSkdf.s:110: Warning: using `%eax' instead of `%ax' due to `l' suffix
/tmp/ccBTSkdf.s:111: Warning: using `%eax' instead of `%ax' due to `l' suffix
/tmp/ccBTSkdf.s:112: Warning: using `%eax' instead of `%ax' due to `l' suffix
This is on a Red Hat 6.2 system, i.e. binutils 2.9.5.0.22, and egcs
1.1.2.
Haven't tried booting it yet ...
