All Belkin USB serial converters do not currently work on Linux (see my
postings on linux-usb for the reasons why) so I wouldn't recommend them as
any kind of solution.

Try one of the multi-port usb to serial converters that are out there.
ConnectTech makes a 1 USB connection to 4 serial ports device (this device
is also supported in the kernel). IO Networks also makes 2, 4, and 8 serial
port USB devices (their Linux driver isn't released yet, but if you contact
them, you can probably get a copy of it.)

And all Linux serial software seems to work just fine with these kind of
USB devices.
