I have a Fuji 556-TX laptop, the modem is quite happy under 2.2.14,
but under 2.3.99-pre6, it doesn't work.
2.2.14 2.3.99-pre6
======= ======
# setserial /dev/ttyS2 0x3e8 irq 3
0x3e8 irq4
#lsdev 3c589_cs irq
10 irq 3
UART
16550A unknown
I suspect it's an IRQ problem, I have "shared serial IRQ" set in the
kernel config..
If I power on with the Ethernet card unplugged, I still get "modem busy"
with kppp, no response from minicom.
For 2.2.14 I am using pcmcia-cs-2.3.11 (think) and the kernel
pcmcia for 2.3.99-pre6.. Unplugging and plugging the cards again, I see
the ethernet card, always as IRQ 3, but the modem gives a double beep,
seemingly cardmgr cannot configure it, even when it's the only pcmcia
card inserted.

That's all from 2.3.99-pre6. I can supply any other pertinent information needed.
I've played around with IRQ's, setting ttyS2 to IRQ 3 with the ethernet card out.
