That's not true; I've seen IA64 machines at several companies allied with
Intel. They're just not ready for shipping but yet code needs to be
written for them. The integration of the IA64 code was very non-instrusive
to all the other architectures so there was no good reason to not do it.
Also please consider that 2.6 won't be ready by the time Intel has
promissed to ship production silicon and that's well an argument for
inclusion of a new architecture that is promising to be widesread.
