You sure about that? I've been using that driver on my Latitude CPi A366 for
some time and I've never had a problem with it.
I do have a problem under 2.3.x in which the system locks up if I try to
access the modem (as /dev/ttyS1), but I'm not yet convinced that's a kernel
problem (the hardware may be flakey).
