What about nanosecond timekeeping?
Now that 1Ghz processors are available, it seems pretty reasonable to
have a comparable precision in timekeeping.
And to jump-start this, there are nano patches available which are
generally used with NTP. Check the daemons directory on ftp.kernel.org,
file should be named PPS*.
