2.3.99 locks hard with "timeout waiting for DMA"

This is kernel 2.9.33pre9

I have 4 HPT366 controller and (yet only) 3 IBM DTLA 307045 47.1 GB
harddisks as hdi hdg and hde

System is on Fujitsu MPF3204AT.

When accessing the IBM disks I sometimes get the message

timeout waiting for DMA
ide_dmaproc: chipset supportd ide_dma_timout fuc only: 14

on console and then the system locks hard.
What is wrong?
