Those who are annoyed with the come-ons of high-tech headhunters these
days might enjoy this page, that I put out after one-too-many calls from
someone who wasn't willing to actually _read_ my resume before calling
to wake me out of bed, let alone understand the content of it:

If on the other hand, you feel that you need to work with recruiters to
find gainful employement even in these booming economic times, I suggest
you read this page:

http://www.goingware.com/tips/marketing.html

where I tell all about how I find good clients for my consulting
practice and work full-time at home without the need to work with
recruiters. It's pretty easy: put up a web page and work to keep up
your visibility.

When I get around to it I'll put up a third page telling employers how
to find good employees and consultants without using recruiters. The
short answer is: use a search engine and contact the prospects directly,
they'll respect you much more if they get a call from a real person
who's actually read their resume and not some headhunter who just
matched on a keyword.
