This has been a problem for quite a while. Multiple console=
statements don't work properly. It seems that it is more or less
random which terminal -- one or both -- either printk() or
/dev/console output get sent to. It also doesn't help that LILO has
what appears to be a pretty draconian limit on the length of the
kernel command line; the kernel itself (and SYSLINUX, plug plug)
allows 255 characters.
Ideally, specifying multiple console= entries should mean that all of
these terminals receive all output, and that any can send input, to be
echoed on all the terminals. Network Appliance consoles work this
way, for example, and they're great.
