make boot fails on x86 2.4.0-test5-pre1

   Having read some of the "It's time to get rid of zImage" thread, I was
under the impression that "make boot" was supposed to be the architechture
independent way of building the kernel. It currently (2.4.0-test5-pre1)
fails to build a bzImage when the kernel won't fit into a zImage.
