Hello there!
I just downloaded the 2.4.0 test5-pre4 patch and I compiled the kernel
again. I am used to compile many drivers as modules and after I compiled
the kernel some of them refuse to work.
In particular these three modules could not be loaded and whenever I try
to "modprobe" them the system complains about many things.
The modules are: scsi (aha152x), loop, and ppp.
The following are the error messages I get when I try to load the
modules.
modprobe loop
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/block/loop.o: unresolved symbol fget
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/block/loop.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/block/loop.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/block/loop.o: insmod loop failed
modprobe aha152x
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/scsi/scsi_mod.o: unresolved symbol
remove_wait_queue
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/scsi/scsi_mod.o: unresolved symbol
add_wait_queue
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/scsi/scsi_mod.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/scsi/scsi_mod.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/scsi/scsi_mod.o: insmod aha152x failed
modprobe ppp_async
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/net/ppp_generic.o: unresolved symbol
remove_wait_queue
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/net/ppp_generic.o: unresolved symbol
add_wait_queue
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/net/ppp_generic.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/net/ppp_generic.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.0-test5/net/ppp_generic.o: insmod ppp_async failed
Please notice that everything works fine with test5-pre3.
One more thing. Whenever I compile the kernel I have to select the "aha1524x"
driver and since always I have always seen this warning error during the
compilation process:
aha152x.c: In function `aha152x_detect':
aha152x.c:957: warning: suggest explicit braces to avoid ambiguous `else'
The driver works fine, of course, but it is annoying to see that error
all the times... ;-) (Ok, I must confess I also hate warning errors...)
Best regards.
