Tone of the Race to 2.4....

Seems a little like people are racing to get this kernel out.. and getting
frustrated with the little things that keep cropping up..
Sounds so much like our business where it was starting to seem like we were
racing from one fire to another, and wondering how come we got to that point..
The way we got back on track was to remember the basics.. And FORCE ourselves
to make time to do them ALL, or don't do it at all..

Looking back is easier, and we can see that we let these basics slip..the
basics we agree need to be done are...

1) Does it work??
2) Is it tested?
3) Does it look pretty?? (syntactically, comments, and flow...)
4) Looking back in hindsight, could I have done it in a better way??

The more often we let ourselves get to the point where we start sacrificing
2,3, and 4, the more fires we have to put out, the less time we seem to have,
and we use that as justification to let 2,3, and 4 slide even more..
Pretty soon we are in catch 22 land...

Sometimes forcing ourselves to slow down, actually ends up saving time... and
we think a lot clearer too..

Just an observation from the sidelines.. And not pointing any fingers..
