Well, there is nothing like "#Define" on that line:
$ wget ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.0/linux-3.0.4.tar.bz2
...

$ tar xf linux-3.0.4.tar.bz2

So my guess is that he has a failing memory. (Single bit flip in d->D.)
