No, 'dmesg -H' is the right thing, you just need a modern version of
util-linux :)

util-linux is on version 2.24.1 at the moment:
https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/util-linux/v2.24/
2.17.2 was from back in 2012, I think it's time to switch to a modern
distro...
