PROBLEM: Can't get external USB HDD Seagate Backup+ parameters through hdparm in linux > 3.14

1. Unable to get device information using hdparm, hddtemp for an external HDD
2. Device is USB HDD Seagate Backup+. Since the update from Linux 3.14
to the next one I'm unable to get it's parameters (smart, temperature,
APM level, etc) using the following tools: hddtemp, hdparm, smartctl.
While in Linux 3.14 all is fine, in my current Linux 4.0.6 it's not.
Unlike Linux 3.15, I'm able to mount the HDD and I see no errors in
dmesg

8. As I mentioned above, everything is fine up to Linux 3.14. This
