Uninitialized channel pointer causes segmentation fault when weTested-by: Gregor Boirie <gregor.boirie@xxxxxxxxxx>
call free(channel) during cleanup() with no channels initialized.
This happens when you exit early for usage errors. Initialize
the pointer to NULL when it is declared.
